Abstract

A prospective and descriptive study was carried out in 50 patients with the diagnosis of pseudo cyst of the pancreas, which were applied some of the surgical techniques for its solution. There was a prevalence of chronic pancreatitis and acute pancreatitis. The average age was 45 years, a range of 19-72 years. The predominant sex was male. Alcoholism was observed in most pancreatitis. Chronic pancreatitis was the first cause of the pseudo cyst of the pancreas. The average diameter of the pseudo cyst is 12 cm. The internal drainages covered most of the surgical procedures, in addition to the Roux-en-Y cysto-jejunostomy, the cysto-duodenostomy and the cystogastrostomy. The surgical external drainage was 26.5% because the pseudo cyst was infected and 2 resections, which were distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy. A morbidity of 14%. There were no deaths and an average follow-up of 71.4 months without recurrence.
