Abstract

A chronological analysis of the history of nursing in Guantánamo was carried out, identifying the different stages of development in the practice of Guantanamo, numerous testimonies of workers who worked in the sector in the 1950s and some relatives, who provided valuable information, documents, photographs, etc. This, combined with other data obtained from the labor records of retirees and deceased, allowed us to gather information about the history of nursing in our territory; the inexistence of documents containing contents related to the profession, led us to the fundamental objective of designing an informative work for the use of nursing staff graduated and in training, on the historical evolution of nursing in our territory.
