Abstract

An aspect of singular interest in adolescents has been the role of Sexual Education in relation to the prevention or incitement of early sexual initiation and the problems derived from this behavior. To diagnose the knowledge about sexuality in the adolescents cared for in the medical office of Carorita located in the center of Diagnosis Tamaca. Lara state. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, during the period February 2012-2013. A community intervention was performed. The universe was constituted by 108 adolescents, who in turn constituted the sample. The age group of the first sexual intercourse, sex, methods used, sexually transmitted infections, conduct to avoid sexually transmitted infections were used as variables. The age of the first sexual intercourse that predominated most was 15 - 19 years, with predominance of males and females without sexual intercourse. Determining the characteristics of adolescents' knowledge about contraceptive methods. Sexually Transmitted Infections showed that there is still a lack of knowledge about aspects related to sexuality as a fundamental aspect of sexual and reproductive health.
