Abstract

A literature and document review was conducted in order to update us about prescription-indication drugs by physicians and consumption by patients in the community. The indiscriminate use of antibiotics can produce adverse effects causing serious consequences of bacterial resistance for exposed patients, and to determine an increase in health care costs; these drugs have become part of the family several households not lacking in the medicine cabinet of these. The need to expand educational outreach campaigns and implement intervention programs aimed at behavior modification in physicians and patients to achieve noticeable quality requirements, no indication complacency and less self-medication.
