Educational intervention in families of alcoholic patients

Abstract

An educational intervention is done guided at relatives of patients with alcoholic patients in the detoxification room at the Psychiatric Hospital "Luis Ramirez Lopez" Guantanamo was performed. It was possible to determine the need to increase knowledge of family on alcoholism related to: conceptualization of alcoholism; risk factor's; existence of health care program; access to knowledge of medical aid program; objectives of the medical assistance program; operation of medical aid program; moments helps the patient; prioritization of patients; responsibility with patients; monitoring of patients; at discharge; stages of treatment; health actions and the effectiveness of the intervention. Data were collected through a survey and concluded that it can be generalized to other areas of health primary care.
