Abstract

An investigation into the suicide attempt is made at school age in the town Guantanamo during 2011 with the aim of characterizing the medical monitoring of suicidal intent in these patients of school age .The study group consisted of 84 school children, ages between 5 and 19 years, who made the attempt or self-injury and their guardians. Among the results were obtained: upward trend in recent years, difficulties in monitoring basic health teams (EBS) and mental health teams (ESM). As a conclusion although, there is a program of care for suicidal behavior, there is underreporting of suicide attempt .The admission and follow-up of these patients are not done in a correct way.
