Abstract

The case of a male patient aged 32 who come to refractive surgery consultation at the Hospital "Amistad Argelia Cuba” is presented in May 2012 for surgical correction of visual defects. History and complete eye examination was done in the left eye and Artisan phakic lens implant was performed and in a month right eye was corrected by in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). The postoperative follow-up was performed at the third and sixth months without complications. This combination can be a surgical alternative for correction high myopia patients and anisometropia. No induced astigmatism appeared nor postoperative ectasia. The variation in the endothelial cell count is negligible in relation to the surgical technique. A significant improvement in visual acuity without postoperative correction which results in higher quality and visual satisfaction was obtained.
