Abstract

A study with the aim of characterizing the workers of the Medical Science of Guantanamo is done, as well as profession and knowledge of hypertension, from January to February 2012. Universe consisted of 526 workers, selecting 158 samples by simple random.  Variables were investigated: profession, criteria for hypertension blood pressure values, minimum frequency of checking blood pressure, diet characteristics in patients at risk and risk factors of hypertension.  Medicine and nursing were the professions more represented. The criteria of hypertension by blood pressure values, the minimum frequency of checking blood pressure and risk factors were variables that showed the greatest knowledge and percent of the sample.
