Abstract

A study was carried out in patients attending the Vitreous-retina Consultation of the Cuban Institute of Ophthalmology "Ramón Pando Ferrer", with diagnosis of diabetic macular edema, from January 2009 to January 2010. The study universe consists of the 44 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The age, sex, macular thickness and better corrected visual acuity (MAVC) and post treatment .the variables were studied. A simple random sampling was performed to form 3 groups of studies, based on the modality of the treatment applied, to compare the efficacy of the intravitreal Bevacizumad combined with triamcinolone acetate and to be macular in the treatment of edema macular. Finding that the laser treated group had a better evolution of visual acuity and macular thickness with a single cycle of treatment, while the group treated with Bevacizumad was the one that evolved worse with respect to the macular thickness compared to the initial value.
