Introduction: the World Health Organization defines a suicidal act as any action through which an individual causes harm to himself, regardless of the degree of lethal intent and whether or not the true motives are known.
Objective: to describe the personality characteristics of patients with suicide attempts caused by anthropogenic factors.
Method: a systematic review was carried out through a descriptive study of scientific articles published in the period from July 2018 to July 2023, in the databases: Medline (PubMed), Embase, Pre-Medline, Cochrane and DARE, the search was carried out using the following keywords: “suicide; personality; anthropogenic factors. The search was executed in a similar way through the implementation of Medical Subject Headings.
Results: there are multiple factors that condition the person's life, that is, the difficulties that they cannot address; This will become a favorable environment for ideations of a suicidal attempt; In higher rank there are socioeconomic factors, bullying, parental conflicts, migration among many that mostly affect adolescents.
Conclusions: suicide is an important public health problem that causes symptoms such as guilt, anxiety and depression, in which the majority end in suicide attempts or death. The anthropogenic factors that most frequently intervene in suicide ideation are distributed in the economy, in the family, problems at home or at school; with a higher incidence in adolescent ages.
