Abstract

A bibliographic review was carried out where pathogenic mechanisms and clinical manifestations of coccidia are exposed, to be used by medical students, health professionals and the population in general. In addition, it was deepened in the pathogenic mechanism and clinical manifestations of these protozoans. The Coccidia are unicellular organisms, obligate intracellular parasites, opportunistic, characterized by a marked specificity, belonging to the protozoa and specifically sporozoos. These are important microorganisms epidemiologically, easily transmissible and its prevention is based mainly on the correct cooking of the meats, the implementation of appropriate management and sanitary measures.
