Use of beta-lactams and macrolides in community-acquired pneumonia

Abstract

A descriptive study was carried out with the purpose of proposing a treatment protocol for community acquired pneumonia (NAC), from the characterization carried out at the General Teaching Hospital of Guantánamo "Dr. Agostinho Neto "during the period January-December 2010. The study universe consists of 727 patients with inflammatory pneumopathy, from which a non-probabilistic sample was extracted at the convenience of 624 patients. Patients ages 61-70 years and males. The most common germ was Streptococcus pneumoniae. The most commonly drug is used Ciprofloxacin, to a lesser extent beta-lactams and no use of macrolides. As a factor of poor prognosis the age over 65 years. The proposal of treatment with domiciliary income for Primary Health Care prior agreement with the Secondary Health Care was validated by specialists.
