Abstract

Infectious endocarditis in healthy heart is a rare disease in the pediatric age especially that based on the tricuspid valve, there is usually a predisposing factor such as catheterization of deep vessels in a prolonged way, and diagnosis is difficult but has increased in the last decades. The case of a 5-year-old child is presented without predisposing factors for endocarditis, which underwent diagnosis of infective endocarditis of the tricuspid valve to pathogenic staphylococcus, arriving with a frank cardiac congestive heart failure and emergency surgical criteria. Performs native valvular replacement by mechanical prostheses and continuation of medical treatment with antimicrobials, as well as complications thereof, evolving favorably.
