Humanizing delivery in the obstetric service of Clínica Las Lajas, Colombia

Introduction: improving the health status of the population, guaranteeing high standards of quality and satisfaction in the Republic of Colombia is of great importance. Objective: diagnose the level of knowledge about adequate humanized childbirth care of Nursing staff, for the subsequent development of an educational intervention plan. Method: a mixed, qualitative-quantitative study was carried out at the Las Lajas Clinic, Ipiales. In it, research techniques were applied such as: bibliographic, field, action; theoretical methods such as: synthetic analytical, logical historical, systemic and inductive deductive, scientific observation, as well as data collection through questionnaire. Results: 42% of the respondents stated that they had had little communication with the nursing staff, who rarely explained to the patient about the procedure to be performed. 24% reported that they were not given non-pharmacological measures to reduce labor pain; on the other hand, 46% of respondents highlighted that skin-to-skin contact was carried out one hour after birth. Finally, 90% of these expressed their approval with the implementation of humanized delivery in the health institution. Conclusions: the current diagnosis allowed us to establish some shortcomings in the development of humanized childbirth and the level of knowledge of the pregnant women treated at the obstetric center of the Las Lajas clinic, Colombia. The design of a proposal should be proposed to increase the level of knowledge on the subject, always focusing on the safety and health of the patient, as well as strengthening the level of performance of health personnel and increasing the level of knowledge of pregnant women who They go to the obstetric center of this clinic.
