Immunological aspects in patients with HIV and antiretroviral therapy

Abstract

A quasi-experimental study of therapeutic intervention uncontrolled type was performed in order to assess the immunological response to antiretroviral therapy in patients with the diagnosis of the disease that initiated antiretroviral therapy, at the Hospital "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso "in Santiago de Cuba, from March to May 2014, besides evaluation before the start and after nine months of therapy. The universe was 31 patients with the criterion of beginning such treatment either clinical or immunologic. The variables were: clinical stage, sex, treatment regimen, CD4, viral load, immune response. AIDS cases not prevailed at the beginning of the investigation. It was applied after antiretroviral therapy and was found relevant immune response because most of the patients had excellent and good response. At 9 months of therapy decreased the viral load to undetectable. Antiretroviral therapy produced a significant immune response.
