Prevention of biological risks in sterilization plant

Abstract

A descriptive study was carried out to evaluate the perception of the biological risk that the workers have in the sterilization center of the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "in Guantánamo. The universe was 68 workers and the sample of 51. The variables were analyzed: age, group, sex, distribution according to the area of work and knowledge, biological risk prevention measures. Among the results obtained, age 39-49 was the most prevalent and female gender, too. In the dirty area, the workers mostly exposed, with a total of 40 workers, for a total of 78%, who do not have the necessary knowledge. The greater numbers of workers working in areas, the great majority of them do not have adequate knowledge about biological risk, and proposed measures to prevent it. It is intended to extend these measures to all facilities with biological risk of the institution.
