Abstract

In order to describe the influence of informed consent and substitute in the safety of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy due to insufficient acceptance, a retrospective study is developed in Psychiatric patients at the Hospital "Luis Ramírez López",Guantanamo, from January to December 2012. The study group consists of 1419 patients, selecting a sample of 500 cases by simple random. Review of clinical and Registration stories of electroconvulsive treatment are performed. Acceptance level, satisfactory and unsatisfactory evolution, nursing care before, during and after: the variables are studied. Dominated the satisfactory performance with 218 cases. Patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy received nursing care before, during and after.
