Characterization of the elderly adult with probable diagnosis of skin cancer

Introduction: In Cuba a social demand is the study of the skin cancer in the biggest population of adults.
Objective: to determine the patients with diagnostic probable of skin cancer in the homes of old Caridad Jaca and San José from Guantánamo during the year 2017, and in such a case, to characterize clinical-epidemic aspects in the affected patients.
Method: was an observational, prospective and traverse study with all the old men (n=256) and in those with probable skin cancer (n = 15). Was studied the age, sex, birthplace and where their lived, personal pathological antecedent, cutaneous photo- type, characteristic of the lesion, diagnostic clinical and dermatoscopy.
Results: In 5,9 % of the old men a skin cancer was diagnosed. It was more common in men (53,4 %) with 70 to 79 years (53,4 %), born or that III lived in urban areas and cutaneous photo type (40,0 %). 100.0 % was exposed to the solar light, 86,7 % without photo protection means. The cancer was located more in the face (66,7%), it had an inferior area to a centimeter (46,6%), between 3 and 4 years of evolution (60,0%), it was an unique lesion (86,7%) and the carcinoma basocellular (46,6%). In 80,0% of the cases correlation diagnosis was appreciated clinic-dermatoscopy.
Conclusions: It was low the frequency of the skin cancer in the old men. However it is required to pay more attention to the insurance of the precocious diagnosis of this illness.
