Abstract

A prospective longitudinal descriptive study was carried out with the aim of characterizing aspects of interest related to the morbidity of patients treated surgically by large benign tumors of the breasts at the General Teaching Hospital "Agostinho Neto", Guantanamo, in the department of Aesthetic Surgery and Surgery General during the period from January 2000 to December 2010. The study universe consists of 14 patients in the last 10 years, in all cases with clinical-pathological correlation, without complications and with a high degree of satisfaction with the definitive discharge to the 6 months of being operated on. The variables were studied: age, tumor size, technique used, type of anesthesia and complications. The age between 20 and 24 years prevailed, the size of the tumors ranged between 6 and 11 cm. The majority of the patients were operated under general anesthesia. The complications that were predominated: seroma, hematoma, and granuloma.
