Mission
Revista Información Científica is an effective communication tool in health sciences; its sole purpose is to position and visualize articles of high scientific quality in the national and international context, which lead to stimulate academic discussion from the reflexive and critical cooperation of research with social relevance.
Vision
To be a benchmark for international impact and positioning of scientific research in the areas of medical care, teaching and technological development in health sciences, with high quality standards and methodological rigor.
Peer Review Process
Impartial, independent and critical evaluation is an intrinsic part of the scientific process and, therefore, should be part of all academic work. The peer evaluation consists of the critical evaluation of the manuscripts by experts with similar knowledge who are not part of the Editorial Committee of the RIC. Peer review helps editors decide which articles to publish while helping authors, reviewers, and editors raise the quality of their published contributions.
Submitted articles are subjected to a double blind peer review process.
The review process takes into account that:
a) The selection of the reviewers will be the responsibility of the Editorial Committee.
b) The selected reviewers must be external (not belonging to the author's institution).
c) Verify the non-existence of conflicts of interest.
d) Two specialized reviewers will be appointed according to the subject of the manuscript.
e) The proposed form (Arbitration Guidelines) will be used.
f) If the reviewers do not agree on their criteria, a third party will be appointed.
g) The work must be evaluated and its results recorded in the space designated within 30 days.
The Editorial Committee will discuss the reviewers' suggestions and make a decision that will be communicated by email to the main author or research leader. The decisions taken may be:
Acceptance of the submission. In this case, the work will go to the editing process as received.
Publishable with modifications. The authors will have 15 days to proceed to develop a new version, taking into account the recommendations of the review process and register it in the same space as the previous one. Once registered, it will go through the review process again. If after 30 days the corrected work is not received, the Editorial Committee can make the decision to extend the date for another 30 days, or archive it, communicating it to the first author by email. If it is archived and the author or authors maintain their desire to publish in the journal, they must register the work as a new manuscript, commenting the intention to the editor in the corresponding space of the first step of the registration, explaining that it is a new version under the same title.
Resubmission for Review. The main author is notified by email of the review considerations and that the work will be archived. It will be clarified that if the author maintains the intention of publishing it in the journal, the work must be registered as a new submission, making the comment to the editor in the corresponding space of the first step of the registration, explaining that it is a new version of the work under the same title.
Not publishable. Regarding articles that have been declared as plagiarism, present ethical violations, lack of quality or are not considered of interest.
In conjunction with the suggested Arbitration guide, other standardized evaluation guides for international use may also be consulted, both by authors and reviewers, such as: CONSORT (for randomized clinical trials), PRISMA (for systematic reviews), STROBE (for studies observational), CARE (for case reports), SQUIRE (standards for excellence in the quality of reports).
